How can I pre-allocate a string in Perl? -

I have a pearl script that crunches a lot of data, but there is a bunch of string variables that start with small but Dot (cocktactation) becomes too long due to the repeated use of the operator. In this way, the string must be repeated to be repeated in the reinterpretation? If so, is there any way to allocate a string already?

Optional suggestions that will be very easy to cope with: string on an array and when it you are doing.
