windows mobile - handling persistent storage and cold boots with ce 4.2 -
I have spent it on Friday and Saturday and I am out of ideas;
I have a project where I need to run Silk CE and .NET2.0, with symbol libraries running Windows CE 4.2 (Windows Mobile 2003) on the symbol 8146 device which is for my application Are necessary.
The device is cold-boot, everything has been removed in user segment. In the past, I have used the symbol framework utility to solve it, but this time it says that there is not enough space on the device. The problem is that in 8146 only more than 7 MB non-volleyable storage and I need to restore 10-12 MB of WAT data (so far)
Has anyone else come on it and Has it solved? I think I need to write a small app that runs the device and checks the status of everything, so if the compact flash card brings things back to the main memory.
I do not know how to use the program correctly to use CF card, but I'm stumped in a way.
The symbol also has two apps that can help them as sound: regmerge.dll and copyfiles - they only run on a cool boot.
Only 10.2 megabytes of stuff are needed which keeps me, I know that I can solve it anyway!
I will call technical support on Monday morning and whatever solution (if any)
Thank you,
Joe:
Update: I have given an order overnight for CF card and Motorola has opened a case - I should have something else on Tuesday.
Will Device Always Connect?
You may want to consider not trying to keep everything in mind, writing equipment and a small boot stapler program which will leave the program files / web files on the wireless network.
Alternatively, you can ask the symbol / motorola about Airbam. Airmail is their package deployment solution. On each device's device, it will check for updates to packages.
If you really need to rebuild the device to make the device offline, then you have to use compact flash card path that you have mentioned above with a bootstrap program which Ensure that each of your items has been installed.
