syntax - How do I chomp a string if I have Perl 4? -

I am writing a script on my personal machine that is connected to a remote server. I think the Pearl 4.0 or lower version is installed in the remote server and that is why it is unable to recognize it. Is there any alternative to chomp command?

This is not an exact replacement, but you can try:

  $ var = ~ s / \ r? \ N? $ //

Which CRL (DOS), LF (Unix), CR (Mac?)

The normal Chrome operator always uses the current $ INPUT_RECORD_SEPARATOR defined for the current O / S.
