visual studio - Where are assemblies installed into the GAC physically stored? -
I want to export my project assemblies But where are they physically stored?
This is really good explanation:
If you
c: \ windows \ assembly
> With Explorer, where you will see a well formatted list of assemblies.
Shell extension, responsible for this view, does not just show the assemblies in GAC, but also shows the original versions of the pre-congestion with Engan.
But the files are not actually stored here - the shell extension only masks their real location. You can see that where the file is actually stored by navigating to the same directory through the command prompt
This place has several subdirectories, in which one name is GAC, under several layers of hash codes and assembly names. Body assemblies along with an old .INI file buried here, which includes a strong name among other things. It is searchable in this unwanted area, to understand what is happening under the cover, though beware of making changes in GAC is to be opaque.
