installation - Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V on x86 processor -

I noted that there are two versions of Windows Server 2008 W / Hyper-V available for download on the MSDN Subscription License site:

  • Windows Server 2008 Datacenter, Enterprise and Standard (x64)
  • Windows Server 2008 Datacenter, Enterprise and Standard (x86)

I want to set up a development server for testing / development to use Hyper-V software. Abstract, you can only run on Hyper-V-64 based processors. Can Hyper-V run on a x86 based processor? If not, then why does Microsoft offer an X86 and X64 download?

This is a follow up of

Update:

The MSDN membership site is also available without Hyper-V (x64 and x86) Windows Server 2008 provides a download for DataCenter, Enterprise and Standard. Why do not they just give one download for the X86 version in Windows Server 2008, it is just trying to determine the correct installment ISO ....

Hyper-V is supported only for x64 CPU Additionally, 64 bit CPU should support Intel or AMD virtualization hardware. Guests can be OS 32 or 64 bits. The simple application is SecurAble that you can actually use to test the hardware without installing Windows 2008 / Hyper-V in many cases you should enable hardware virtualization in the BIOS.
There are many problems with Hyper-V: guest OS has the fate of the most troubled USB support.
Besides this, this is a very good tool.
