networking - Oracle datafiles on a Network Share -

I have an Oracle 8.1.7 server running on a virtual machine on Windows 2000 Advanced Server. We are currently hosting it using MS Virtual Server. (Allocated hardware is powerful enough - we have been assigned 3.5 GB RAM, and a single 2GHz processor core, more than most of the servers in 1999)

One of the limitations of the virtual server I have the maximum size of the virtual hard disk The disk (127GB) and the database I am attempting to import is 143GB.

To meet this problem, I am trying to create DB datafile on physical HDD, which has enough space.

My problem is that I am having difficulty creating a database installation on a network share.

Does anybody know how I can maintain my young wishes (and hair!)?

Cheers, Brian

You can access your Oracle network Code> Service has been started to use for sharing.

It can not say that it is a good idea to create an oracle data file on a network share, but it is a viable solution if you do not make much mistake with the data files and Share access.
